HELPDESK ICCB COVID – 19 In force from 29th January 2021 new provisions to contain the Covid-19 on the Republic of Bulgaria territory

On January 26th, 2021 afternoon, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria decreed the adoption of important provisions to contain the pandemic in the Country.

The main restrictive measures concern the extension of the”extraordinary epidemic” situation in force from 29.01.2021 until 30.04.2021 and the new regulations for entry into Bulgaria, regardless of nationality.

Indeed, from 29.01.2021 to 30.04.21, all those entering the Bulgarian territory, regardless of their nationality, must have a negative PCR test that was performed within 72 hours before the entry in the Country.

Bulgarian citizens and persons with permanent or long-term residence status in the Country and members of their families who do not present the document have to do a 10-day quarantine.

The test document must contain the names of the person according to the identity document of the travel, the data of the laboratory that performed the test (name, address or other contact details), the date of the test, written in Latin letters – PCR and negative result, which allow interpretation of the document.

If no such PCR test is submitted, those entering the Country must do a 10-day quarantine.

Exceptions to the requirement of a negative PCR test are allowed for bus drivers engaged in international transport, or for truck drivers performing or terminating international transport, for crews of ships and aircraft, for border workers and transit across the Country.

Furthermore, starting from 1st February 2021 in public indoor places it is mandatory to wear protective masks for single or multiple use.

From 1st February to 30thApril 2021, all citizens who are in closed public places, including public transport, must wear a face mask. The same requirement is for open public spaces, where crowding cannot be avoided. This means that it is no longer possible to use helmets or other things that cover the nose and mouth instead of a mask.

Exceptions are allowed for customers of refreshment areas, when visits are allowed, for sportsmen, for children up to 6 years, as well as for speakers during seminars, press conferences, etc.
