Within the bilateral chamber network activities, it was held on Thursday 28th January 2021, at 16h30 (Sofia time) / 15h30 (Rome time), on the new MP Studio platform, the second International Digital Conference entitled “Bulgaria as a New Top Nearshoring destination“.
The online appointment was born with the aim of promoting Bulgaria as a possible New Top Destination of Nearshoring, promoted by Invest Bulgaria Agency and organized in collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria and twelve other bilateral associations based in Bulgaria.
Hristo Nikolov, journalist of Bloomberg Bulgaria TV, brilliantly moderated the online event, broadcast in live streaming on multiple communication channels of the bilateral Chambers of Commerce in Bulgaria.
After a welcome greeting by the conductor, the event started with the opening speeches by Lachezar Borisov, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Bulgaria and Stamen Yanev, Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Bulgaria, who explained the reasons why Bulgaria is an excellent Nearshoring destination, starting from the strategic geographical position that makes it a land connected to the Middle East, even though it is part of the European Union. A Country with one of the fastest internet connections in the world, which combined with the factor of reduced costs and 10% taxation, has allowed the Bulgarian economy to run fast especially in the automotive and electronics sectors.
Desislava Trifonova, Executive Director of Invest Bulgaria Agency, subsequently, clarified the purposes of the event in support of foreign investments in Bulgaria, andGeorgi Stoev, Economic Analyst, illustrated the Country’s macroeconomic framework, providing elements for comparison and listing various investment opportunities.
In this free event, held in English, some representatives of companies who wanted to share their successful nearshoring business experiences, already present in Bulgarian territory, also participated by videoconference. In this regard, Marcel Van der Hoek Manager of ABB, Xavier Marcenac founder of NASEKOMOand Svetlana Stefanova, General Manager of FAAC Bulgaria gave a speech.
The virtual event ended with an interactive moment dedicated to the exchange of questions between the speakers and the large participating audience.
