WEBIT.FESTIVAL EUROPE– Enterprises, Policies, Startups took place from May 3rd to 5th at the National Palace of Culture.
Created and promoted by Plamen Russev and sponsored by the European Digital Agenda and Society Commissioner, Mariya Gabriel, the President of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova. it is one of the most influential B2B and B2G networking events in Europe on the innovation, digital and technology ecosystem, on the latest innovations in marketing, advertising, wellness and health, Cybertech, defense, blockchain and fintech.
For the second consecutive year, Italy attended the Festival with 14 Italian exhibitors (9 startup and 5 business companies) in the national Pavillon (A20), managed by Italian Trade Agency Sofia and with the support of the Embassy of Italy in Sofia.
On May 4th, at 15.00, the Embassy of Italy in Sofia, H.E. Stefano Baldi with the Director of ICE Sofia, Alessandra Capobianco, the President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria, Marco Montecchi, the Secretary General, Rosa Cusmano and in presence of SVP Business Development Global WEBIT Series, Aniela Russeva started two days of business meetings between Italian exhibitors and Bulgarian personalities.
This business event was another joint action of Sistema Italia within Italian Festival 2019 focused on Italian innovation, digital and technology.
Italy was one of the represented Countries at the Web.it Festival Europe Summit with Great Britain, Mexico and United States, thanks to network of business and institutional contacts of the Italian Chamber of commerce in Bulgaria, under the coordination of ICE Agency – Sofia Office.
On May 14th, from 16.45 to 17.20, the Professor Cosimo Distante of National Research Coucil (CNR) and Responsible for the Lecce office of the ISASI – Institute of Applied Sciences and Intelligent Systems “Eduardo Caianiello”, as well as advocate for the scientific validation of the “SARI” facial recognition system, and chosen by the Web.it Committee, was the speaker of the panel “Privacy & Data Trust” discussion within the framework of the Defense & Cyber Security Innovate Summit.
The panel was hosting other important international keynote speakers as Laura Sallstrom, Global Head of Data and Trust at Access Partnership, Travis LeBlanc partner of Cooley LLP in Washington, D.C. and San Francisco, Aidan Ryan Head of Policy Unit and the Legal officer for ENISA editor of the legislative drafting, cybersecurity and Alonso Bustamante from Mexico City with the presence of representatives of the business and institutional world.
During the Festival numerous social business meetings were held between 450 speakers from 118 different Countries. The event started with the cordial greetings from the President of Web.it Foundation, Plamen Russev and from SVP Business Development Global WEBIT Series, Aniela Russeva to Italian hosts and to the Professor Cosimo Distante, accompanied by the Secretary General of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria, Rosa Cusmano. After that, the President Russev expressed his greetings to the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria for the commitment to identify new initiatives about the business promotion between Italy and Bulgaria.

WEBIT.FESTIVAL EUROPE– Enterprises, Policies, Startups, represents an important moment of discussion in order to identify new strategies and development plans in line with European directives between Europeans, national-regional and local governments, personalities of business. It was held in Sofia, selected as European seat for an event that annually involves only the 4 cities in the world: Istanbul, Dubai, New Delhi and Singapore.
More than 12.000 personalities confirmed their presence at the 2009 Edition (70% C level), there will be policy makers, innovators, entrepreneurs, representatives of the research world and experts, more than 450 keynote speakers, 500 investors from 118 countries, 1.500 start ups selected from 4.000 applications received by the organizing committee, 500 accredited media and 300 exhibitors.
These numbers remarked the importance of Web.it as leading event in Europe in the Digital & Tech sectors. On May 15th, it was announced the next Edition will hold Valencia in 2020, winner among Amsterdam, Paris, London, Madrid, Rotterdam, Vienna, Tel Aviv, Brussels, Budapest and other competitors cities.
The Festival will also continue to take place in Sofia, the city from which it was born, and will focus on developing opportunities for business and innovation in the Balkan area.
